Advisor – Client Relations & Business Development

Role Overview

Aubon Group requires an Advisor to cultivate client relationships and develop business opportunities across the metals, shipping and infrastructure sectors. You’ll identify prospective clients, understand their strategic challenges, position Aubon Group’s capabilities and coordinate proposal development.

This position suits professionals with consultancy or industrial sector experience who excel at relationship building, strategic conversation and commercial development. You’ll work closely with consulting teams to translate market opportunities into client engagements whilst maintaining relationships that generate sustained business.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with decision-makers across target sectors
  • Conduct regular client engagement to understand evolving strategic priorities
  • Identify opportunities for Aubon Group to support client challenges
  • Coordinate delivery teams to ensure client satisfaction and engagement quality
  • Manage relationship development from initial contact through long-term partnership
Business Development & Sales
  • Generate qualified leads through market research, networking and sectoral engagement
  • Develop proposals, pitch materials and commercial terms for prospective engagements
  • Lead new client meetings and present Aubon Group capabilities
  • Negotiate contract terms, scope parameters and pricing structures
  • Maintain sales pipeline tracking and forecasting
  • Achieve annual business development targets (specific metrics provided upon hire)
Market Intelligence & Positioning
  • Monitor developments across relevant sectors (metals, shipping, infrastructure)
  • Identify emerging challenges where Aubon Group can provide differentiated value
  • Assess competitive landscape and refine positioning strategies
  • Contribute to thought leadership development supporting commercial objectives
  • Represent Aubon Group at industry conferences, trade associations and networking events
Internal Coordination
  • Brief consulting teams on client context, relationship dynamics and commercial parameters
  • Coordinate proposal development involving multiple service lines and expertise areas
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing between delivery teams and commercial functions
  • Provide market feedback informing service development and capability investment
  • Support consultant development in client engagement and commercial skills

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
  • 4-6 years’ experience in management consultancy, professional services business development or industrial sector commercial roles
  • Proven track record generating new business or managing strategic client relationships
  • Strong understanding of metals, shipping and/or infrastructure sectors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to engage C-level executives
  • Commercial acumen including pricing strategy, contract negotiation and deal structuring
  • Self-directed work style with entrepreneurial orientation
Desired Attributes
  • Fluency in Dutch, French or German
  • Established professional network within target sectors (metals, shipping, infrastructure)
