SELECTED PROJECT SUCCESSES

Aubon Group provided strategic advisory to industrial participants within the EU-funded R3VOLUTION project, which revolutionises water management across European heavy industry. The engagement focuses on developing implementation roadmaps for membrane-based water reclamation systems across petrochemical, steel, bio-based chemical and the pulp & paper sectors. Our work addressed the technical feasibility of process water reuse technologies, economic viability modelling for resource recovery infrastructure and operational integration strategies that balance production requirements with water efficiency mandates.

The project tackles industrial water scarcity – noting that 40% of abstracted water in Europe serves industrial purposes – whilst enabling solute and energy recovery from wastewater streams. Aubon Group’s contribution centred on translating the R3VOLUTION consortium’s technological innovations into sector-specific deployment strategies that account for existing facility constraints, capital investment requirements and regulatory compliance pathways.

Aubon Group advised on strategic planning for the renewable hydrogen infrastructure development connecting the Port of Rotterdam and the Port of Duisburg, supporting the decarbonisation of North Rhine-Westphalia’s industrial corridor. Our consultancy worked with development partners to develop pathways for long-term project success, focusing on strategies to support hydrogen demand and transport modality options.

The engagement is addressing Rotterdam’s transition from Europe’s primary fossil fuel import hub – handling 13% of European energy demand – towards becoming the continent’s renewable energy gateway. Aubon Group’s work supported subcontractors engaging in regulatory analysis of emerging hydrogen policy frameworks, commercial viability modelling for electrolyser capacity deployment and stakeholder coordination strategies for the relevant port authorities and transmission system operators across the Netherlands and Germany.
